EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers have assigned defenceman William Lagesson to Kristianstads IK of Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan.
The 24-year-old started the 2020-21 season with HC Vita Hasten of the same second-division circuit in his home country, scoring three goals and six assists in 11 games.
Lagesson signed a two-year contract extension with the Oilers on Nov. 4. The deal is a two-way contract in year one and a one-way contract in year two, carrying an average annual value of $725,000.
The 6-foot-2, 207-pound blueliner played his first eight NHL games during the 2019-20 season and also appeared in 25 games with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors, posting three goals and seven assists.
