EDMONTON, AB - The honours keep piling up for Oilers 2020 draft pick Carter Savoie.
The 100th-overall selection from October's NHL Draft was selected as the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's Rookie of the Month on Saturday, and three days later he has been announced as the winner of the same award for the entire NCAA by the Hockey Commissioners Association.
Savoie started his collegiate career with the University of Denver Pioneers by scoring seven goals and four assists in 10 games in December while playing in the NCHC pod, ranking third among all NCAA freshmen in points. His seven tallies tied him for first in the NCAA for all players and his four power-play goals put him alone in top spot in that category.
The St. Albert native has added a goal and an assist in two games so far this month to bring him up to eight goals and 13 points in 12 games. He's currently in a five-way tie for the NCAA lead in goals and a two-way tie for power-play goals with five.
The Pioneers play two games against Colorado College this coming weekend.
