The Oilers had a successful road trip without three key pillars of the team on the defensive side in Andrej Sekera, Adam Larsson and Cam Talbot. On Wednesday, Oilers head coach Todd McLellan provided an update on each player.
"Larsson and Sekera are both doing a good job of rehab and trying to get back into the lineup. We'll worry about those problems when we have them," McLellan said about the possibility of a logjam on defence with a full slate of healthy defenders (Sekera is projected to return early in the New Year).
"(Larsson) skated today, he skated when we were on the road so things are improving. We're probably back to that day-to-day scenario but with his injury, he could wake up tomorrow and it could be back to where it was before. So we've got to get completely through it and make sure that he's fine."
Regarding Talbot, he will be reevaluated following Thursday's game.
"Talbs is getting awfully close. He won't be involved in tomorrow's game against Nashville but there's a potential target date if everything goes well further into the weekend."
