EDMONTON, AB -Zack Kassian is the type of player that can leave his "footprint" on the game when he's on. His tempo, physicality and energy can pull players along with him. In addition to those qualities, Kassian has hit a run in points with six in his last six games (2-4-6).
Head Coach Todd McLellan attributes some of his recent success to a conversation the forward had with Assistant Coach Jimmy Johnson.
"Jimmy shared some of his thoughts with Zack, and - not necessarily from that point on -I think he got him thinking about a few things," said McLellan. "His linemates are playing significant roles in the games as well, which helps him… I like (the analogy) of leaving your footprint on the game. He's been doing that lately. Forget about scoring, just the forecheck and the energy he gives off just so his teammates can feed off it has been a positive thing for our team."
Kassian has begun to build chemistry with his linemantes Mark Letestu and Jujhar Khaira. Together the trio has earned trust with the coaching staff and has shown they can provide energy to the lineup.
