Ceci-4

EDMONTON, AB - A little bit of longevity for Cody Ceci with the Oilers following a stretch of one-year contracts over the past three seasons is just what the defenceman needed.
Following the opening day of NHL Free Agency, it's lining up to be of great benefit to both club and player in the coming 2021-22 campaign and beyond.
The Oilers locked down prime years of Ceci's career on Wednesday with a four-year contract with an AAV valued at $3.25 million, giving the 27-year-old blueliner the consistency needed to build on what was a terrific season with the Pittsburgh Penguins in '20-21 on a 'prove it' contract where he exceeded expectations at both ends of the rink.
"I've been bouncing around a little bit on one-year contracts for the last few years and was looking to get a bit of term out of this deal," said Ceci. "It's hard to settle in if you're moving around. There are always new guys and you're just trying to get comfortable every single year, but at the same time it was a pretty good experience for me to get a chance to play with some of the guys that I got to play with in different organizations."
