Young fan gets surprise meeting with his hockey hero, style icon Subban

TAMPA -- Jaydon Jones' first surprise was that he was selected as a student representative to attend the
2018 Honda All-Star Game
in Tampa. He was not prepared for what came next -- a meeting with his hockey hero and style icon, P.K. Subban.
The 12-year-old left wing made the trip from Pennsauken, N.J. with Justin Brass, both from the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in Philadelphia, and their dads, after they were chosen because of their dedication to the program, positive attitudes, academic success and strong teamwork.

Jones' father Claude says his son has loved dressing up his whole life. For the All-Star Game on Sunday, Jaydon wore a three-piece navy blue suit, bow tie and fedora, a similar ensemble to Subban's wide brimmed-hat and three-piece suit.
Claude used to play hockey recreationally and wanted to get his son involved in the sport as soon as he was old enough. Jaydon started playing when he was 6.
It wasn't long before Subban caught Jaydon's eye because of his skill, his fashion sense and his personality.
"He's energetic, he's funny, he's nice," Jaydon said.

Subban took notice of Jaydon when his coach tweeted a picture of Jaydon all decked out and holding a hockey stick at the Nashville Predators defenseman.

Once Jaydon was selected to attend the All-Star Game, he thought he was just in for a weekend of hockey fun and seeing Subban from the stands. He had no idea that Subban requested a meet and greet when he heard Jaydon was coming to the game.
One minute, Jaydon and Brass were standing in the hallway by the locker rooms in Amalie Arena. The next, Subban and Flyers forward Claude Giroux were headed toward them to say hello.

"I was mind-blown," Jaydon said. "I was speechless. I was like so happy."
