Alex Ovechkin became the 20th player with 600 NHL goals when he scored twice against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

The Washington Capitals forward is the fourth player to do it in fewer than 1,000 games (990), joining Wayne Gretzky (718), Mario Lemieux (719) and Brett Hull (900).

Here is a look at Ovechkin's road to 600 goals:
June 26, 2004:Ovechkin is selected by the Capitals with the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NHL Draft.
Oct. 5, 2005:Ovechkin becomes the first player in Capitals history to score two goals in his NHL debut, helping Washington defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 at Verizon Center.
Jan. 16, 2006:Ovechkin scores one of the most amazing goals in NHL history, swatting the puck past Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Brian Boucher while sliding on his back. It is still referred to by many as "The Goal."

April 10, 2006: After defeating the Boston Bruins with his second overtime goal, Ovechkin becomes the first rookie since 1992-93 and the sixth in NHL history to have 100 points.

Oct. 12, 2007: In his 167th NHL game, Ovechkin scores his 100th goal in a 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers.
June 12, 2008: Ovechkin caps a personal hat trick by winning the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP to go along with the Art Ross Trophy as the top scorer and the Lester B. Pearson (now Ted Lindsay) Award as the outstanding player as chosen by his peers.

Feb. 5, 2009: Ovechkin joins Gretzky, Lemieux and Mike Bossy as the only players to score 200 goals in their first four NHL seasons when he gets No. 200 in a 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
May 4, 2009:Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins each scores three goals in Washington's 4-3 win in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

April 5, 2011: A power-play shot from the top of the left circle against the Toronto Maple Leafs makes Ovechkin's the sixth-youngest player in NHL history to score 300 goals.

Dec. 20, 2013: Ovechkin doesn't have to beat a goaltender to score goal No. 400; he hits an empty net against the Carolina Hurricanes in his 634th NHL game.
Nov. 19, 2015:Ovechkin passes Sergei Fedorov for the most NHL goals scored by a player born in Russia when he gets No. 484 in his 777th NHL game.

Jan. 10, 2016: With his parents watching at Verizon Center, Ovechkin scores goal No. 500 (and 501) in his 801st NHL game, becoming the fifth-fastest player in League history to score 500.

Jan. 11, 2017:Playing in his 880th NHL game, Ovechkin becomes the 84th player in League history to reach 1,000 points when he scores a first-period goal against the Penguins. It's also his 545th goal, passing Maurice Richard.
Jan. 2, 2018:Ovechkin scores his 100th game-winning goal and NHL-record 22nd in overtime to give the Capitals a 5-4 win against the Hurricanes.
Jan. 25, 2018:Ovechkin becomes the sixth player in NHL history to score 30 or more goals in 13 consecutive seasons and gets his 500th assist in the Capitals' 4-2 win against the Florida Panthers.
March 3, 2018: Ovechkin becomes the sixth player in NHL history to score 40 or more goals in at least nine seasons when he scores in a 5-2 win against the Maple Leafs in the 2018 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. The others are Gretzky (12), Lemieux and Marcel Dionne (10), and Bossy and Mike Gartner (nine).
March 12, 2018: Ovechkin scores Nos. 599 and 600 in a 3-2 overtime win against the Jets.
