SUNRISE, Fla.-- Vincent Trocheck's goal with 43.4 seconds left in overtime gave the Florida Panthers a 4-3 win against the New Jersey Devils at BB&T Center on Thursday.
Trocheck scored his second goal of the game on a rebound after Cory Schneider made a pad save on Trocheck's shot on a 2-on-1.
"It's exciting," Trocheck said. "We definitely needed to get back on the winning track, so tonight was a good start."

Aaron Ekblad and Denis Malgin had power-play goals for the Panthers (5-5-1), who won for the second time in six games.
Goalie James Reimer, making his fourth start for Florida, made 31 saves.
Pavel Zacha scored his first NHL goal for the Devils (4-2-3), who were 3-0-1 in their past four games. Travis Zajac and PA Parenteau also scored, and Damon Severson had two assists, giving him eight points in seven games. Cory Schneider made 27 saves.
Florida went 2-for-3 on the power play after going 0-for-7 in a 2-1 loss against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.

"Real good," Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. "They had some good looks. It looked a lot better. They were moving the puck. That's what we want on our power play."
Trocheck's first goal on an assist from Jaromir Jagr at 4:29 of the third period gave Florida a 3-1 lead. New Jersey scored 20 seconds later when Parenteau redirected a pass from behind the net by defenseman John Moore.
Zacha tied it 3-3 with 3:55 left in the third when he took a centering pass from Beau Bennett and beat Reimer from the slot.
"It was a good feeling at the moment when it was 3-3," Zacha said. "I'd feel much better if we won the game. First NHL goal, I'll never forget it. Hopefully, next time it will be to win the game."

Goal of the game

While Trocheck did most of the work on the game-winning goal, his first goal came after some nifty work from Jagr. After jumping onto the ice, Jagr took a pass from defenseman Mark Pysyk at the New Jersey blue line before stickhandling between two defenders. He then slid a pass across the crease to Trocheck, who one-timed it past Schneider.

Save of the game

New Jersey had the first great scoring opportunity in overtime when Taylor Hall skated past Ekblad and came in on a clear breakaway. With the puck rolling, Hall tried to beat Reimer with a quick shot between the legs, but Reimer made a stick save. "Hall is a real good player and he probably scores on more of those than he doesn't," Reimer said. "I just tried to come out and be big and play the shot and see if he did anything else. I just got lucky. He's a great player and I'm sure he's going to score a lot of goals like that this year."

Unsung moment of the game

Forward Jonathan Marchessault showed some aggressiveness when his body check sent defenseman Andy Greene to the ice behind the New Jersey net.

Highlight of the game

Florida led 3-2 with a little over six minutes left in the third period when they had a 3-on-1. Malgin kept the puck until he got close to the net and centered it to Jared McCann, who redirected it toward the net with a backhand. Schneider already had committed and was on his back when he made the save and the puck stayed under him and out of the net.

They said it

"It's Jaromir Jagr. He's still got it." -- Panthers center Vincent Trocheck on Jagr's assist on his first goal
"I thought he was great all night. He's such a complete player. He works hard. He's really showing what he can do. It's just fun to watch him out there." -- Panthers goalie James Reimer on Vincent Trocheck
"I liked the fact that we were able to find a way to be able to come back and get a point, being down two. There's lots of positives to be able to take out of that. You're going to have to be able to come from behind in games. It's not an ideal situation. Like everything, when you have an opportunity to be in that situation, to be able to come back builds some belief that you can do that, which is important as the season goes on. That's one of the positives out of tonight." -- Devils coach John Hynes
