Lagace, who was recalled from Chicago of the American Hockey League on Wednesday, was 9-6-3 with a 2.72 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage in 19 AHL games. He had an .867 save percentage in 16 games with Vegas last season.
Reilly Smith, who has missed seven games with an undisclosed injury, will be a game-time decision for the Golden Knights, who have lost two in a row.
Petr Mrazek will start for the Hurricanes, who are 9-3-1 in their past 13 games.
