Maple Leafs team scope

The Toronto Maple Leafs bring a three-game losing streak into their game at TD Garden and are 2-4-1 in their past seven games. They are three points behind the Boston Bruins for third place in the Atlantic Division with five games in hand. "I think it's a big one for us, obviously, with the standings and everything," forward Connor Brown said. "But just we'd like to redeem ourselves the way we've played the last two games. We think we've got more so it's a big game for everyone here." Goaltender Frederik Andersen, 6-0-0 in his career against the Bruins, will start for the eighth time in the past nine games. He has allowed eight goals on 39 shots in his past two starts and knows he has to be better. "You always look at yourself and try to see what you can try and improve," Andersen said. "But those kind of things happen throughout the season. It's just a matter of getting back to work and working hard to get out of that little funk that you have." Forward Tyler Bozak is one point from 300 in his NHL career. Toronto is 2-0-0 against the Bruins this season and has outscored them 8-2.

Bruins team scope

Center Patrice Bergeron and goaltender Tuukka Rask are expected to play despite missing practice Friday. "We'll probably have to make a game-time decision. But they both look fine. I would say likely," coach Claude Julien said. Bergeron, who has two goals and three assists during a four-game point streak, injured his right leg blocking Matt Niskanen's shot during the third period of a 5-3 loss at the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. "I felt better today. So it was a lot better than it was in the third period when I tried to go back out there," Bergeron said. "There should be a good chance [I'll play]." Rask will make his 12th straight start despite apparently sustaining an injury late in the third period in Washington. The Bruins had won three in a row prior to their loss to the Capitals and are beginning a season-long four-game homestand leading up to their five-day bye. "It's really big, obviously," Rask said. "We've got to realize the standings, where they are, where we are, and they have, like a lot of other teams, games in hand on us. So we're trying to gain some ground and especially for our own sake get us on a roll and kind of get on a point streak after a loss." The Bruins are two points behind the Ottawa Senators for second place in the Atlantic Division, but the Senators have five games in hand.
