Maccelli, Vanecek sign 1-year contracts with Islanders

25-year-old forward had 39 points for Maple Leafs last season; goalie was 5-13-3 for Mammoth

Matias Maccelli signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders on Wednesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 25-year-old forward had 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) in 71 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. 

Maccelli set NHL career highs in goals (17), assists (40) and points (57) with the Arizona Coyotes in 2023-24.

A fourth-round pick (No. 98) by the Coyotes at the 2019 NHL Draft, Maccelli has 169 points (51 goals, 118 assists) in 295 games with Arizona, Utah and Toronto.

The Islanders also signed goalie Vitek Vanecek to a one-year contract. 

The 30-year-old was 5-13-3 with 2.93 goals-against average and .883 save percentage in 22 goals last season for the Utah Mammoth.
