SAN JOSE --Evander Kane will return to the lineup for the San Jose Sharks when they host the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Western Conference Second Round at SAP Center on Monday (10 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVAS).
Kane did not play in Game 2 on Saturday, a 4-3 double-overtime victory by the Sharks, serving a one-game suspension for cross-checking Pierre-Edouard Bellemare late in the third period in Game 1 on Thursday, a 7-0 win by the Golden Knights. The best of-7 series is tied 1-1.

"I think we feel pretty good," Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said Sunday. "After the way Game 1 ended and Kane going down, I don't think any of you guys thought we could come out of there with a split."
"I think our group felt that we knew we didn't play like we needed to play in Game 1, we were capable of better, and that despite the fact we had the adversity of Kane out of the lineup we could get the job done and we did that. I think we got a lot of work left to do, but that's a good start to the series."
Kane had nine goals and 14 points in 17 regular-season games with San Jose after he was acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 26. He had three goals and four points in a first-round sweep of the Anaheim Ducks.
"He's a big part of our team," DeBoer said. "We're obviously a better team with him in the lineup. I said yesterday prior to the game that this group won a lot of games prior to us getting Evander Kane, and I was very confident that our group could go out there and get the job done last night and they did."

San Jose outshot Vegas 47-29 in Game 2 and was better defensively, limiting odd-man rushes which were a problem in Game 1.
"We know how we have to play, and it's about us bringing that," said DeBoer, who gave his team the day off Sunday. "Game 2 was a lot more like how we need to play as the series moves forward. I still think we can play better than we did in Game 2."
Prior to the suspension, Kane was playing with wing Joonas Donskoi and center Joe Pavelski. With Kane out, DeBoer changed his lines for the first time in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Timo Meier replaced Kane on the top line, and Barclay Goodrow moved into the lineup. Midway through the second period, Mikkel Boedker replaced Donskoi.
"We shuffled things around last night to try to win a game with guys out of the lineup," DeBoer said. "I don't know what tomorrow's lineup will look like. I know that we had 20 guys go into a tough environment and a tough situation and no one gave us a chance in and everybody contributed in different ways."
