The man who inspired a sports movie classic was on hand to inspire the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.

Dan "Rudy" Ruettiger, whose football career at the University of Notre Dame was immortalized in the 1993 film "Rudy," rang the siren for the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Monday.
Ruettiger, now an author and motivational speaker, wore a green Golden Knights jersey with No. 45 emblazoned on it, his number while famously playing just a single game for the Fighting Irish.

Chants of "Rudy! Rudy!" prompted by the Golden Knights announcer rang out as Ruettiger cranked the siren.
