"When I got traded here, Shea reached out and shot me a message. I was very excited to get traded to Montreal. I wasn't expecting it at all, but it's been one of my family's favorite teams their whole lives. My dad's side of the family is French-Canadian and the whole side of that family loves the Canadiens. So, it's not only a dream come true for me, but I think my dad's side of the family also. I know my dad's super excited right now."
Edmundson on the Blues' Cup-winning team and the size of their blue line and whether he sees any similarities to what the Canadiens have on the backend:
"Absolutely. I like the way the team is built right now; it's a young team with a with a lot of speed. With the addition of me on the backend, you've got Shea, you've got [Ben] Chiarot, you've got [Jeff] Petry. Good size too, we can all skate on the backend. I like the way the team's formed right now, and I just can't wait to get it started up."
Edmundson on foregoing the free agency market to sign a four-year contract with the Canadiens:
"My main focus was, go to free agency and see what teams are interested. But once they traded for me, I realized they obviously really wanted me. I took the week to think about it. I was very excited that we could get to negotiating right away. It just takes the stress off free agency now, and I couldn't be happier to be in Montreal."
After getting the experience of playing and winning in sports-crazy St. Louis, here's Edmundson's take on facing the pressure of playing in hockey-mad Montreal:
"I got that one Stanley Cup in St. Louis, but that just makes you want another one and another one. I'm going to do whatever I can to help the team win their next Stanley Cup. All that pressure doesn't really matter to me; I feel like I play well under pressure. I feel like every year of my career so far in playoffs, where obviously there's the most pressure on you, that's where I perform at my best. It'll be a lot different, but I'm looking forward to it, that's for sure."
