Letang-Murray 12-28

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang and goaltender Matt Murray are injured and will not play against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-CR, ATTSN-PT, NHL.TV).

Letang did not play in a 5-4 shootout win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday because of a lower-body injury and is considered day to day, coach Mike Sullivan said.
Murray is day to day because of an upper-body injury. He made 29 saves Wednesday. Murray missed six games earlier this month because of a lower-body injury.
The Penguins also will be without forward Bryan Rust and defenseman Chad Ruhwedel after each sustained an upper-body injury during the third period Wednesday.
Ruhwedel is week to week, Sullivan said, but Rust will be out longer-term.
The Penguins recalled defensemen Frank Corrado and Andrey Pedan, goalie Casey DeSmith, and forward Garrett Wilson from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
DeSmith, 26, has played two games for Pittsburgh this season, the most recent Dec. 9 in a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs when he made eight saves of nine shots in 38 minutes in relief of Tristan Jarry. DeSmith is 10-5-2 with a 2.72 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 17 AHL games.
