Nolan Patrick consensus No. 1 in mock drafts

Brandon center Nolan Patrick entered the season as the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Though a groin/stomach muscle injury limited Patrick in the first half of the season, he didn't slip in the eyes of NHL Central Scouting, which listed him
No. 1 on their midterm ranking
of the top North American skaters.
He's also the No. 1 player in the first mock drafts of NHL.com writers Adam Kimelman and Mike G. Morreale.

Patrick, 18, missed 35 games recovering from his injury, but has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in eight games. After missing nearly three months, he had two goals and two assists in his return to the lineup Jan. 11.
That was one of the few areas of agreement in the mock drafts. Kimelman and Morreale each have the same players in their top seven; the order varies.
Kimelman sees Windsor center Gabriel Vilardi going second and Halifax center Nico Hischier third; Morreale has Hischier at No. 2 and Vilardi going third.
The order used for this mock draft was based on League standings after close of play Wednesday. The Vegas Golden Knights, who will be assigned the same odds as the third-place team in the NHL Draft Lottery, were given the No. 3 pick in the mock drafts.
All 31 teams currently have their first-round pick; the last time every team entered the draft owning its first pick was 2005.
