Super 16: Lightning remain unanimous No. 1

The Tampa Bay Lightning are the unanimous No. 1 in the NHL.com Super 16 power rankings for a second straight week.

The Lightning are 9-0-1 since Nov. 29 and lead the NHL with 26 wins (four more than any team) and 54 points (eight more than any team). They're first in goals per game (4.03), 10th in goals-against per game (2.83), second on the power play (29.5 percent), and fourth in penalty killing (84.0 percent).
The Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators swapped spots this week, with the Jets at No. 2 and the Predators at No. 4.
The San Jose Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights each moved up two spots, and the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders moved back into the rankings, knocking out the Dallas Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins.
To create the power rankings, each of the 13 staff members puts together his or her version of what they think the Super 16 should look like. Those are submitted and a point total is assigned to each.
The team picked first is given 16 points, second gets 15, third gets 14 and so on down to No. 16, which gets one point.
Here is the latest Super 16, with some news and notes to follow for each team:

1. Tampa Bay Lightning (26-7-2)

Total points: 208
Last week: No. 1
Hit: Nikita Kucherov has 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists) in 17 games since Nov. 15. The forward has helped the Lightning go 14-2-1 in that stretch.
Miss: Ryan Callahan is day to day with an upper-body injury. The forward missed a 5-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.

2. Winnipeg Jets (22-10-2)

Total points: 187
Last week: No. 4
Hit:The Jets are 9-2-0 since Nov. 29 and their power play has scored at least once in eight of the wins, going 12-for-39 (30.8 percent). Forward Mathieu Perreault has scored in five straight games.
Miss:Not much to nitpick here even after a 4-1 loss at the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. It was the second time in 13 games since Nov. 24 the Jets failed to score at least three goals.

3. Toronto Maple Leafs (22-10-2)

Total points: 174
Last week: No. 3
Hit:Auston Matthews has 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in nine games since returning from a shoulder injury Nov. 28. The 21-year-old center has 11 multipoint games this season.
Miss: Toronto is 1-for-25 on the power play in seven games since Dec. 4, going 3-2-2.

4. Nashville Predators (22-11-2)

Total points: 172
Last week: No. 2
Hit: Mattias Ekholm has an assist in seven of nine games this month, giving the defenseman 19 assists this season, tied for second on the Predators with defenseman Roman Josi behind center Ryan Johansen (25).
Miss:The Predators have lost back-to-back games and they're playing without forwards Filip Forsberg (upper body, missed nine games) and Viktor Arvidsson (broken thumb, missed 19), and P.K. Subban (upper body, missed 17).

5. Washington Capitals (20-10-3)

Total points: 160
Last week: No. 5
Hit: Almost lost in the wake of left wing Alex Ovechkin's hot streak (17 goals in 15 games since Nov. 16) is that center Evgeny Kuznetsov had 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in an eight-game point streak that ended in a 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.
Miss: Andre Burakovsky has been a healthy scratch for four consecutive games. The forward, who was the No. 23 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, has eight points (five goals, three assists) and is minus-5 in 29 games this season.

6. Calgary Flames (22-11-2)

Total points: 140
Last week: No. 6
Hit:The Flames are 7-0-1 at home since Nov. 17 and 11-3-2 at Scotiabank Saddledome this season, a big reason they're first in the Pacific Division, three points ahead of the San Jose Sharks. Calgary missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs by 11 points last season in part because they were 17-20-4 at home.
Miss:James Neal hasn't scored in 20 straight games, the longest drought of his NHL career. The forward missed a 2-0 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday because of an upper-body injury.

7. Buffalo Sabres (20-10-5)

Total points: 123
Last week: No. 7
Hit:Sam Reinhart has 18 points (five goals, 13 points) during an active and NHL career-high 11-game point streak. The forward has seven assists in his past three games.
Miss:The Sabres placed Patrik Berglund on unconditional waivers Wednesday with the intent to terminate his contract. The 30-year-old forward was suspended for failure to report to the team Saturday.

8. San Jose Sharks (19-11-5)

Total points: 120
Last week: No. 10
Hit:The Sharks have won five consecutive games and Joe Pavelski has scored in three of them, giving San Jose's captain a Sharks-high 21 goals in 35 games, one shy of matching his 22 goals in 82 games last season. Pavelski is shooting 23.1 percent this season; he shot 9.8 percent last season.
Miss:Nothing is missing of late. The Sharks start a four-game homestand Thursday. They're 9-1-1 at SAP Center since Nov. 3.

9. Colorado Avalanche (19-10-6)

Total points: 103
Last week: No. 8
Hit: Gabriel Landeskog has 23 goals in 35 games, three goals shy of his NHL career high of 26 in 2013-14. The forward has seven game-winning goals, including in a 2-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, and seven power-play goals. The Avalanche captain leads the NHL with 15 goals in the third period.
Miss:The penalty kill remains an issue for the Avalanche, who are tied with the Canadiens for 23rd at 77.2 percent and haven't gone more than two games in a row without allowing a power-play goal. They are 12-for-20 on the PK in their past six games after allowing one goal on four power plays by the Canadiens.

10. Boston Bruins (18-12-4)

Total points: 91
Last week: No. 9
Hit: Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara participated in a full practice Wednesday. Bergeron, a center, has missed 15 games with a rib injury. Chara, a defenseman and the Bruins captain, has missed 16 games with a lower-body injury.
Miss:Jake DeBrusk has missed five games, but the forward returned to practice Wednesday wearing a red non-contact sweater, an indicator he's getting closer to returning.

11. Anaheim Ducks (19-12-5)

Total points: 81
Last week: No. 12
Hit:Ondrej Kase, a right wing, has eight points (five goals, three assists) and Ryan Getzlaf, a center, has seven (one goal, six assists) in Anaheim's past five games. The Ducks are 4-1-0 in those and 9-2-0 since Nov. 27.
Miss:The Ducks went 0-for-5 with a shorthanded goal against in a 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday, putting their power play at 1-for-16 in seven games since Dec. 5.

12. Columbus Blue Jackets (18-12-3)

Total points: 64
Last week: No. 13
Hit:The Blue Jackets are 12-for-12 on the penalty kill in their past six games. They have taken the second-fewest minor penalties (99) and have the fewest penalty minutes (221) in the NHL. They've been shorthanded the second-fewest times (94).
Miss:They're 1-for-19 on the power play in their past six games.

13. Vegas Golden Knights (19-15-2)

Total points: 50
Last week: No. 15
Hit:Center William Karlsson has scored eight goals in 11 games since Nov. 24.
Miss:ForwardMax Pacioretty was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, which was the Golden Knights' first time on the ice since returning from a four-game road trip (2-1-1).

14. Edmonton Oilers (18-14-3)

Total points: 29
Last week: No. 14
Hit:Alex Chiasson has scored 15 goals this season, already two more than the forward's previous NHL career high (13 in 79 games in 2013-14).
Miss:The Oilers have been outshot in five straight games (175-119) and they've allowed at least four goals in four of the five games, going 2-2-1.

15. Montreal Canadiens (17-13-5)

Hit: Defenseman Shea Weber has seven points (four goals, three assists) in 11 games since making his season debut Nov. 27.
Miss:The Canadiens are 1-for-29 on the power play in their past ninet games.

16. New York Islanders (17-12-4)

Total points: 20
Last week: NR
Hit:The Islanders won back-to-back road games against the Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes this week, allowing one goal in each game. New York has won three straight on the road and is 4-1-1 in its past six away from home since Nov. 23.
Miss: Thomas Hickey didn't play in a 3-1 win against the Coyotes on Tuesday and the defenseman was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with an upper-body injury he sustained in a 4-1 win against the Avalanche on Monday.
