NHL stars face ATP players in ball hockey

Hockey, anyone?

Some NHL players met up with ATP tennis pros to play a little street hockey this week. The festivities happened as part of the 2023 National Bank Open in Toronto.

The NHL team included Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri, Los Angeles Kings forward Quinton Byfield, Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan McLeod and Tampa Bay Lightning forward Anthony Cirelli.

Hockey Hall of Fame forward Doug Gilmour was also on hand and took a few penalty shots during the festivities.

ATP tour players included Casper Rudd, the 5th ranked player on the tour, and Sebastian Korda (32) among others.

Kadri was impressed with the level of skill from the tennis pros.

"They're great athletes," Kadri said. "I mean if you put them on skates it might be a little bit of a different story but on the ball hockey court I think they did an excellent job today. It was a lot of fun playing against them."
