Madison Square Garden recently had a special birthday, and Henrik Lundqvist unveiled a new mask to celebrate.

The New York Rangers goalie celebrated the 50th anniversary of opening of the fourth version of MSG with a special mask complete with images of the arena's most famous moments.

Instagram from @daveart: This mask is a tribute to Madison Square Garden's anniversary of 50 years, 1968-2018⭐️. Henrik Lundqvist used the mask on the actual day of the anniversary last week. Henrik and I started to brainstorm this design last summer☀️. We came up with a plan how to create the design in a subtle vintage style, in old school sketchy style✍ mixed with classic airbrush. The Statue Of Liberty on the top ties the design together and makes the design into a 100% NYR design. In the white areas on the sides I sketched drawings representing big moments in the history of the Madison Square Garden... I love to create these Storyteller designs, and this painting was a dream to work with. ❤️ @hank30nyr @nyrangers @nhl #DaveArt #DaveArtTheCradleOfCreativity #DaveArtTheStoryteller #nhl

Lundqvist sported the mask during the Rangers game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, which was the 50th anniversary of the new building's first Rangers home game -- a 3-1 victory against the Flyers. The Rangers had previously played at MSG III, which was on 8th Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets in New York.

The mask features vignettes of the Rangers Stanley Cup victory in 1994, Wayne Gretzky's final regular-season game, which was April 18, 1999, along with famous boxing matches and Elvis Presley's unprecedented sold-out shows in 1972. The Rangers' Statue of Liberty logo is on top, and the No. 50 is across the front on the bottom of the mask.
