11.17 Pulock

Ryan Pulock is out 4-6 weeks for the New York Islanders because of a lower-body injury.

The defenseman was injured in the second period of a 4-1 loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday after blocking a shot from forward Mathieu Joseph and appeared to limp off the ice. He played 2:28 in the third period and did not play in a 6-1 loss at the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
"Obviously, he's a pretty good defenseman for us," Islanders coach Barry Trotz said after the game Monday. "That's an area where we have to correct a little bit. It's a hole, but we're going to have to find ways to fill that hole. … But we'll have to do it as a group of five guys on the ice and a goaltender and go from there."
Pulock is averaging 21:07 of ice time per game, tied for first with defenseman Adam Pelech among Islanders to play at least 10 games. He has two assists this season.
The Islanders (5-6-2), who have lost four straight games, play the Calgary Flames in their home opener at UBS Arena on Saturday. They began the season with 13 road games.
