Taylor-Hall

NEWARK, N.J. --Left wing Taylor Hall is day to day for the New Jersey Devils with a contusion in his right knee and will not play against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Thursday (7:30 p.m. ET; TSN2, MSG+ 2, RDS, NHL.TV).
"The real positive news is that there is no structural damage," Devils coach John Hynes said. "Bad news he won't play at Montreal, but it's just a contusion and it will take a little while for him to get ready and that's why we have him day to day."

Hall was injured in the third period after scoring twice in a 5-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Prudential Center on Tuesday when he went knee-on-knee with defenseman Kurtis MacDermid at the Kings blue line at 7:16. Hall's final shift ended at 14:35 and he left for the locker room during a stoppage at 16:56. The contact by MacDermid appeared to hit just above Hall's right knee.

Hall, who leads the Devils with 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists), 37 takeaways and 101 shots on goal, was acquired in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers for defenseman Adam Larsson on June 29, 2016.
"Obviously Taylor is a big part of our team and has played fantastic for us this year, but over 82 games you're going to go through this," Hynes said. "You will have guys out. You want Taylor to play 82 games but sometimes that doesn't happen, so it's about making sure the guys in the lineup are ready to go and understand how we need to play."
Hall missed eight games last season after having surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee on Nov. 16, 2016, two days after he was injured during practice. The Devils went 2-4-2 in his absence.
Right wing Kyle Palmieri, who will miss 11th straight game with a broken right foot, returned to practice Wednesday and is day to day. He will travel with New Jersey to Montreal. Forward Marcus Johansson (ankle bruise) was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 9.
Forward Nick Lappin was recalled from Binghamton of the American Hockey League and will join New Jersey in Montreal.
