Duchene family

Matt Duchene was welcomed into the 1,000 games club by his biggest fans.

The Dallas Stars forward played in his 1,000th NHL game against the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on Thursday.

Duchene kicked off his milestone day, being dubbed “Mr. 1K” by the Stars who printed the name on his coffee cup.

Duchene's wife, two kids and parents were on-hand in D.C. to celebrate the special moment, getting to sit on the bench and taking some great photos during warmups.

In another photo, Duchene’s son, Beau, gave his dad a big hug as he left the ice. Beau also read out the Stars' starting lineup in an adorable video.

Dallas also made a special tribute video in honor of the veteran's milestone achievement.

The Capitals also congratulated Duchene and showed him on the arena video board.

Duchene is in his 15th NHL season and first season with the Stars. He spent nine seasons with the Colorado Avalanche and four seasons with the Nashville Predators. He also had stints with the Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets.
