Lemieux inducted into Order of Hockey in Canada

Pittsburgh Penguins co-owner Mario Lemieux was inducted into the Order of Hockey in Canada at a special ceremony in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Monday.
Lemieux, who hoisted the Stanley Cup for the fourth time last week after the Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks in the 2016 Stanley Cup Final in six games, was inducted with Bob Nicholson, president and CEO of Hockey Canada; David Branch, president of the Canadian Hockey League; and Geraldine Heaney, a two-time Olympic medalist and seven-time world champion with the Canadian women's Olympic team.

Lemieux was captain when Canada won the gold medal at the 2002 of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and scored the winning goal for Team Canada against the Soviet Union at the 1987 Canada Cup.
In 915 NHL regular-season games, Lemieux had 690 goals and 1,033 assists. He had 76 goals and 96 assists in 107 Stanley Cup Playoff games and helped the Penguins win back-to-back championships in 1991 and 1992.
Lemieux has won the Stanley Cup twice as co-owner of the Penguins (2009, 2016).
