Marian Gaborik of the Ottawa Senators had surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back Thursday.
Gaborik, who has missed the past seven games, is expected to resume training in approximately eight weeks.

The 36-year-old forward has seven points (four goals, three assists) in 16 games with the Senators this season. He was acquired in a trade with center Nicholas Shore from the Los Angeles Kings for defenseman Dion Phaneuf and forward Nate Thompson on Feb. 13.
Gaborik, who has 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 46 games this season, has 815 points (407 goals, 408 assists) in 1,035 NHL games.
The Senators (28-41-11) who visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday (7:30 p.m. ET; ATTSN-PT, RDS, TSN5, NHL.TV) have been eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention.
