Los Angeles allowed six shots on Philadelphia's first two power plays of the third period, but the average shot length was 47.8 feet. The third penalty was taken with 6.5 seconds remaining.
"[Penalty kill] starts with your goalie, and our goalies have been terrific all year," Kings coach John Stevens said. "Guys have been together a long time, they pressure the puck, they read off the puck really well. We've got some really quality guys that have done a good job in the face-off circle. When we're really on, we can limit the time in the zone because we can deny entries, put pucks on the wall.
"We have lots of guys … we're one of the few teams that uses seven or eight forwards to kill penalties, so as long as we're getting clears and winning face-offs, we usually have fresh guys on the ice, which I think helps us."
The Kings played the second and third periods with five defensemen after Christian Folin sustained an upper-body injury in the first. Stevens said Folin will be re-evaluated when they return to Los Angeles.
The Flyers said they felt they generated enough offensive opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net.
"It was a tight game," Voracek said. "They didn't make any mistakes. … We had a few looks, in the second period especially, but we couldn't score on the power play. I think the power play lost the game."
Martinez gave the Kings a 1-0 lead at 5:27 of the first period. Torrey Mitchell won a face-off on the left side of the Flyers zone back to Martinez, whose one-timer from above the right face-off circle went off Flyers forward Taylor Leier and over goalie Brian Elliott's right shoulder.
Lewis made it 2-0 with a wrist shot from the right side at 16:46 of the first that got past Elliott's glove.
