MTL Kirk Muller lights the torch

The last time the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup, Kirk Muller helped lead the charge. So, it’s only fitting to have him in the building as the team makes another push.

Before Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Second Round between the Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, Muller brought the pregame torch into Bell Centre to get the crowd roaring.

Muller played for the Canadiens from 1991 until 1995, quickly becoming a fan favorite in Montreal after helping lead the team to the 1993 Stanley Cup. That year, he scored 37 goals and recorded 57 assists — both career highs — before tacking on another 10 goals and seven assists in 20 games during the team’s postseason run.

During his 19-year NHL career, he played in 1,349 games, spending time with the Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars.
