Facts and Figures: Crosby dominates Islanders again

against the New York Islanders at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday. It was the second time in as many games that the Penguins scored six goals; they
won 6-3
against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.

Kessel had two goals and two assists, Crosby had a goal and two assists, and Guentzel had three assists as Pittsburgh scored at least six goals in a game for the fifth time this season. The Avalanche and Calgary Flames lead the NHL with six such games.
Crosby has 113 points (36 goals, 77 assists) in 65 games against the Islanders. That's the most points he has against one team since entering the NHL in 2005. Crosby is one of four players with at least 100 points against the Islanders; all four (Crosby, Jaromir Jagr, Mario Lemieux and Mark Recchi) played for the Penguins at some point in his career.
Crosby is the only active player with at least 100 points against one opponent. He's also the next-closest, with 94 points (39 goals, 65 assists) in 64 games against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Blue Jackets, Red Wings surrender leads, win in OT

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings each survived multigoal comebacks to win in overtime on the road.
Columbus defenseman Seth Jones scored his second goal of the game 10 seconds into overtime to give the Blue Jackets a
4-3 win
against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. It was the fastest overtime goal in Blue Jackets history and the fastest in the NHL this season. The NHL record is six seconds, which has been done five times, including twice last season, by Detroit's Andreas Athanasiou against the Ottawa Senators on Jan. 3 and by William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 24.

The Red Wings, who share the NHL lead with five multigoal comeback wins this season, led 4-1 entering the third period against the Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena, only to have Toronto tie the game and force overtime. However, Dylan Larkin scored his NHL-best third OT goal of the season to give Detroit
a 5-4 win
. It was Larkin's 13th game-winning goal since entering the NHL in the 2015-16 season, the most on the Red Wings.

Canucks rookie Pettersson scores penalty-shot goal

Elias Pettersson, who leads NHL rookies with 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists), scored a penalty-shot goal in the Vancouver Canucks'
5-3 win
against the Nashville Predators at Rogers Arena. He's the third Canucks rookie ever to score on a penalty shot, joining Ivan Hlinka in 1981-82 and Pavel Bure in 1991-92.

Pettersson is the 14th rookie since 2008-09 to score on a penalty shot, and the first since Lukas Sedlak of the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 19, 2017. At 20 years, 25 days, he's the youngest player to score a penalty-shot goal since Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers (19 years, 272 days) on Oct. 12, 2016.

Streaks continue

Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson had an assist on Jones' overtime goal to extend his NHL career-best point streak to 12 games. He's one game shy of matching the longest streak in Blue Jackets history, by Ryan Johansen, who had points in 13 straight games in 2014-15.
Forward Mikko Rantanen scored in Colorado's
5-2 win
at Florida to extend his point streak to an NHL career-high 10 games. He is the 11th player this season to have a double-digit point streak. Rantanen leads the NHL with 47 points (12 goals, 35 assists), three more than linemate Nathan MacKinnon.

Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin scored in a
4-2 win
against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena to extend his point streak to 10 games, his longest since Jan. 27-Feb. 18, 2009. Ovechkin has 21 goals, tying him with forwards Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets and Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay Lightning for the NHL lead.

Karlsson first to 100 points for Golden Knights

Forward William Karlsson became the first player to reach 100 points with the Vegas Golden Knights when he had an assist on Deryk Engelland's first-period goal in a
4-3 win
against the Chicago Blackhawks at T-Mobile Arena. Karlsson has 52 goals and 48 assists in 112 games with the Golden Knights. Among teams that have entered the NHL since the 1991-92 season, four had the club's first 100-point scorer require fewer games to reach the milestone: Tampa Bay (Brian Bradley, 97 games), Anaheim Ducks (Paul Kariya, 98), Ottawa Senators (Alexei Yashin, 107) and San Jose Sharks (Kelly Kisio, 109).
