Morrissey

Josh Morrissey signed a two-year, $6.3 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. It has an average annual value of $3.15 million.

"I'm just super excited to get back on the ice today and the business side is all the past and I can just get back to doing what I do best and that's playing hockey," Morrissey said Monday. "I'm excited to be back and be back with my teammates and I'm ready to go."
The 23-year-old defenseman was a restricted free agent. He had 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) in 2017-18, his second full season in the NHL. He has missed one game in those two seasons.
Winnipeg selected Morrissey with the No. 13 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. He has 46 points (13 goals, 33 assists) in 164 NHL games, and one goal and one assist in 16 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"I love playing here, I love being a Jet, and I hope I can be here for a long time in the future," said Morrissey, who will not dress for the Jets' preseason opener against the Minnesota Wild at Bell MTS Place (8 p.m. ET; NHLN [joined in progress], TSN3).
