Selected by the Dallas Stars in the fifth round (No. 131) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Klingberg had 443 points (92 goals, 351 assists) in 700 regular-season games for the Stars, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and Sharks and 43 points (nine goals, 34 assists) in 82 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Klingberg spent eight of his 12 seasons with the Dallas Stars, accounting for 552 games. His 303 assists and 374 points with them rank third all-time among Dallas/Minnesota North Stars defenseman, and his 71 goals are tied for fourth.
Klingberg made the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2014-15 when he had 40 points (11 goals, 29 assists) in 65 games for the Stars. He also played in the NHL All-Star Game in 2018 during a season that saw him achieve a career-high 67 points (eight goals, 59 assists) while playing in all 82 games.
He had 21 points (four goals, 17 assists) in 26 playoff games in 2020 when the Stars lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games in the Cup Final. That ranked second on the team behind defenseman Miro Heiskanen (26 points).
