Brossoit exits Game 3 with injury

EDMONTON -- Laurent Brossoit left in the first period of the Vegas Golden Knights' 5-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of the Western Conference Second Round at Rogers Place on Monday because of a lower-body injury.

The 30-year-old goalie sustained the injury while attempting to make a save at 11:44. After making an initial stop on Connor McDavid, Brossoit pushed across his crease to his right and immediately went down.

As he was being helped up and off the ice with the score tied 1-1, Brossoit was unable to put any weight on his left leg.

The Golden Knights lead the best-of-7 series, 2-1. Game 4 will be here Wednesday (10 p.m. ET; ESPN, CBC, SN, TVAS).

Brossoit stopped three of four shots before being helped off the ice. He is 5-2 in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 3.18 goals-against average and .894 save percentage.

Brossoit missed the first four months of the season while recovering from offseason hip surgery.

Adin Hill, who had played one game since March 7 because of a lower-body injury, replaced Brossoit and made 24 saves. Hill made four saves in relief in a 5-1 loss to the Oilers in Game 2 on Saturday.

Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy did not have an update on Brossoit after the game.

"It was tough to see him go off the ice like that, but your focus has to go right back to playing," Cassidy said. "Guys certainly went in and checked on him after the period and after the game and we'll see how he does. I don't have anything on him yet, we'll get you something as soon as we can. Jonathan Quick is here and he's been good for us. If 'L.B.' is not available, it will be Hill and 'Quicky.'"
