OTTAWA -Standing between the Winnipeg Jets and matching a season-high four-game win streak is the Ottawa Senators, who the Jets will face twice in the span of the next few days.
Despite the fact the Jets (25-13-3) have won five of their six meetings with the Senators this season, none of those victories came easily.
Case in point, the most recent match-up between the two clubs exactly a week ago at Bell MTS Place.
The Jets built a 4-1 lead through 40 minutes, but hung on for a 4-3 victory.
"Sometimes, when you play a young team, if you can get on them a little bit and you can seize that momentum. But the opposite is true for you," said Jets head coach Paul Maurice. "They can get on those fast momentum rolls, if they score a goal, or they get a bunch of pucks to your net, their game really speeds up."

One player the Jets know they have to keep an eye on is Senators forward Connor Brown.
Brown scored in that meeting one week ago, and in every game since, including Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

PREGAME | Dylan DeMelo

He has goals in seven straight games, a new record for the Senators, and it's something that has caught the eye of Dylan DeMelo.
"I remember when he came last year, very tenacious player, always on the puck, always on the forecheck, can kind of play anywhere in your lineup and do a good job in any role," said DeMelo. "We definitely have to be aware when he's on the ice but continue to play our game. They have a lot of good players, good depth spread out throughout their lineup. You look at their lineup, maybe outside of the Tkachuk line, which is maybe their first line, every other line is balanced."
Speaking of balanced line-ups, the Jets have had offensive contributions throughout the line-up during the current three-game winning streak.
In the two wins over the Montreal Canadiens to open the road trip, the Jets had seven points from defencemen, two power play goals, and multi-point efforts from Andrew Copp, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Mathieu Perreault.
Maurice won't make any changes to that line-up tonight:
Connor-Scheifele-Copp
Stastny-Dubois-Ehlers
Perreault-Lowry-Appleton
Harkins-Thompson-Lewis
Morrissey-Poolman
Forbort-Pionk
Stanley-DeMelo
Connor Hellebuyck will get his seventh straight start, and 34th start of the season, fresh off a 19-save shutout on Saturday.

PREGAME | Paul Maurice

Winnipeg's goaltender was named the National Hockey League's First Star of the Week on Monday after going 3-0-0 with a 0.938 save percentage.
It's part of a run that has seen the reigning Vezina Trophy winner go 4-1-1 in his last six.
"(Hellebuyck) feels so good right now that rhythm is everything to him. He's not playing both games of the back-to-back, so there is a break coming up," said Maurice. "He's feeling stronger now than he ever has. We are mindful of the number of games that he's played. We do need LB to get back on his horse and get into a game because we'll get six games coming up with Toronto and Edmonton and we're going to need that option."
Hellebuyck has won eight of his nine career starts against the Senators, who have lost four straight games coming into tonight.
That skid started a week ago in Winnipeg.

PREGAME | Adam Lowry

Still, Adam Lowry - and his teammates - are heeding the coach's words when it comes to taking Ottawa lightly.
"You might look at their spot in the standings or the kind of the makeup of their team and think that it might be an easier win, per se," said Lowry. "But you look at parity across the league and how tightly contested all the games are, that's not the case."
Ottawa has been a thorn in the side of teams like the Maple Leafs - who are six points up on the Jets for top spot in the North Division - as well as the Canadiens, who hold the final playoff spot in the Division.
The Senators are 3-4-1 against Toronto and 4-3-0 against Montreal this season.
"You continue to try and focus on our game. That's one of those things where we've talked about we control how we come out, we control how we play, regardless of the team we play," said Lowry. "That's kind of what we want to do. We want to dictate the pace, the style of game and take it from there."
