Sateri

NEW YORK -- Harri Sateri made 32 saves for his first NHL win when the Florida Panthers defeated the New York Islanders 4-1 at Barclays Center on Tuesday.

Sateri, who is with Florida because of injuries to Roberto Luongo and James Reimer, had a 4.59 goals-against average and .880 save percentage through his first three NHL games. The 28-year-old was a fourth-round pick (No. 106) by the San Jose Sharks in the 2008 NHL Draft.

"It's an awesome feeling," Sateri said. "To play in the NHL is awesome. To get my first win, I just can't even describe it."

Mike Matheson, Evgenii Dadonov, Keith Yandle and Jonathan Huberdeau scored for the Panthers (20-22-6), who ended a three-game losing streak.
"It's one of those games when I look back and I see through the lineup and we talk about who played well, we didn't have a guy that was really off tonight," Florida coach Bob Boughner said. "Everybody played well."
Adam Pelech scored for the Islanders (25-21-5), who are 3-6-1 in their past 10 home games. Jaroslav Halak made 36 saves.

"Outworked, outpaced," New York coach Doug Weight said. "They thought the game, they got the puck in and made us turn, and we turned the puck over for two periods. That's pretty much it; we just got outworked. There's no explanation, I guess."
Matheson gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead at 8:57 of the first period when his shot from the right point got between Halak's pads.
Dadonov made it 2-0 when he skated past Scott Mayfield at the left face-off circle and scored on a wraparound at 14:40 of the second period. It was Dadonov's ninth point (four goals, five assists) in his past nine games.
"The deficit is, we're out of the playoffs right now," Weight said. "That should be kicked in at 7 o'clock, not 8:30.
"I'll probably yell and scream and tell them to be ready tomorrow. As a player, you have to know you have to be ready to start the game. It shouldn't be with reckless abandon right now with 30 games left, 30-something games left (31). It should be no need to explain it, no need to beg for it. If you make mistakes, it should be hard mistakes. Puck-watching, turning pucks over, floating, circling for two periods … we haven't done it in a couple of weeks, so I'll take it myself. I don't know. We've got to get 'em going by tomorrow night."
Yandle made it 3-0 at 4:14 of the third period with a slap shot from the left point. The goal came 29 seconds after Sateri extended his pad to deny Casey Cizikas from point-blank range.

"It's awesome, especially the way he's battled for us," Yandle said of Sateri. "It's behind-the-scenes stuff in practice, staying out there taking shots, just being a good teammate. He's played some games this year, but he's played well enough for us to win. We just haven't been able to be good enough for him. But I thought tonight, he was awesome and we played well enough to get him a win."
Pelech ended Sateri's shutout at 5:09 of the third, making it 3-1 when he took a cross-ice feed from Josh Bailey and scored with a wrist shot from the right face-off circle.
Huberdeau scored an empty-net goal at 18:49 for the 4-1 final.
"They were breaking the puck out well," Pelech said. "We weren't getting enough pucks deep and getting clean exits from our zone. We had chances, we didn't put them away. We just didn't have enough zone time."

"They had the same layover we had, so there's no excuse really. We've just got to know we've got to be a lot better tomorrow. Obviously we don't want to come out and play flat, but this wasn't good enough." -- Islanders captain John Tavares
