A dedicated Washington Capitals fan sacrificed for the team and was repaid plus interest.
Back in early December, Capitals forward Tom Wilson got his stick stuck in the slight sliver of space between the glass boards. A fan sitting nearby, Caroline McCain, tried to dislodge it. She, perhaps unwisely, used her phone to try and hammer it out. The video of her act made the rounds on social media.
But Wilson and the Capitals made it up to her, getting Verizon to hook her up with a new phone. She was also gifted a custom Capitals jersey and a signed stick from the All-Star player she tried to help out.

"I didn't even see her banging it with her phone at the time, but obviously a pretty funny video," Wilson said, speaking during 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas. "I had to reach out to her and we sent her a stick. I think Verizon got her a new phone.
