LAS VEGAS -- Darnell Nurse scored 53 seconds into overtime to give the Edmonton Oilers a 3-2 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

Reilly Smith and William Karlsson scored for Vegas (29-10-3), whose home winning streak ended at seven games. It was its first home loss since Dec. 12; the Golden Knights have not lost in regulation at home since Nov. 28.

Oilers forward Connor McDavid had two assists on his 21st birthday, becoming the third-youngest active player to reach 200 NHL points. McDavid became the second-youngest Edmonton player to reach the mark, after Wayne Gretzky (19 years, 347 days).
"You just have to work," McDavid said. "[Vegas works] so hard up and down the ice. It's a skating man's game when you play these guys, so you've got to be prepared. I just know we work hard, compete with them, skate with them."
Edmonton goaltender Cam Talbot, who was pulled Friday from a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes after allowing two goals in 3:17 of the first period, made 34 saves.
"Heading into the break we knew we needed a good effort, especially against a team that hasn't lost much in this building," Talbot said. "I made some big saves early and was able to control the pace of the game and kind of ease my way into it, and then made a few big saves down the stretch when we needed it."
Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves in Vegas' first game after a five-day break.

"It's easy to say your team's rested and you're ready to jump, but when you have five days from your break, it's tough to get going," Gallant said.
Edmonton took a 1-0 lead on Maroon's goal at 8:01 of the second period. Smith tied it 1-1 at 9:56.
Karlsson scored for the third straight game, making it 2-1 with seven seconds left in the period. Jonathan Marchessault's 25th assist was his Vegas-leading 41st point.
"[Edmonton is] a good team," Karlsson said. "Obviously struggling this year, but they have some talented players. I don't know why we lost two against them. I think it was pretty even today. I think it could've gone either way. It was just their day, I guess."

They said it

"The resiliency from our team, it wasn't a Picasso, but playing back to back against a team that plays with that type of pace, the amount of energy we had to expend on the penalty kill … it was a scramble night and we found a way to scratch and claw our way to a win." -- Oilers coach Todd McLellan
"It was a tight game. I don't think there were a lot of Grade A chances. Both goalies played well, but I think they wanted it a little more than us and that's why they won the game." -- Golden Knights forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare
