Reason for optimism: Seider ranks 18th among NHL defensemen in assists (80) over the past two seasons combined and leads his position in points (92 in 164 games) among the 2019 NHL Draft class. Seider ranks fourth in the NHL in blocks over the past two seasons combined (351) and should be viewed as a top 15 fantasy defenseman in all leagues and one of the most valuable defensemen in keeper and dynasty formats.

Reason for optimism: Larkin had an NHL career high in points (79 in 80 games) and tied his career best in goals (32) last season. Larkin led the Red Wings in points, goals, assists (47), power-play points (31) and shots on goal (244) last season and could have an even higher ceiling if he plays on a line with offseason acquisition Alex DeBrincat.

Reason for optimism:DeBrincat, acquired in a trade with the Ottawa Senators, ranks 12th in the NHL in goals (100 in 216 games) since 2020-21, 16th in shots on goal (688) and tied for 14th in power-play goals (34) in that span. DeBrincat is a two-time 41-goal scorer and had NHL career highs in assists (39) and power-play points (led Senators with 30) last season.

NHL.com fantasy rank: 169

Reason for optimism: Raymond has been on pace for at least 50 points in each of his first two NHL seasons with 57 points (23 goals, 34 assists) in 82 games during his rookie season in 2021-22 and 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) in 74 games last season. Raymond is a full-fledged breakout candidate if he plays on the top line with Larkin and DeBrincat and worth prioritizing in fantasy keeper and dynasty leagues.

NHL.com fantasy rank: 182

Reason for optimism: Husso was tied for 10th among NHL goalies in starts last season (56), ranked 14th in wins (26) and tied for fifth in shutouts (four). He will likely retain the workhorse role again this season on the improved Red Wings and is a potential fantasy sleeper candidate in late rounds.
