Red Wings fans get engaged in front of Stanley Cup in Vegas

Hockey is a huge part of Brandon Rosenberg's life, so it's no surprise it was a major part of a major life decision.

Rosenberg proposed to his girlfriend Becky Lundquist in the most hockey-way possible by asking her to marry him in front of the Stanley Cup at the NHL Centennial Fan Arena in Las Vegas on Friday.
"I was so nervous," Rosenberg told NHL.com. "I told her 'I love hockey, but more than hockey I love you.' Then I got down on one knee and asked her.
"After she said yes] I felt like I'd scored a game-winning goal."
Rosenberg got into hockey as a kid growing up in Michigan, playing street hockey with his friend who lived down the street from the parents of former NHL defenseman Al Iafrate -- who would drop in on their games when he was in town. He is a diehard Detroit Red Wings fan and an ardent collector of hockey memorabilia, including game-used sticks, pucks and game-worn jerseys.
Rosenberg and Lundquist have been together for three years and live in the Phoenix suburb of Queen Creek, Arizona. She grew up in the Phoenix area, largely as a football fan, but Rosenberg has since helped her become a Detroit Red Wings fan.
The couple has a standing date when the Red Wings are in town to play the Coyotes, but they also usually add one road trip each season.
This year, of course, was Friday's game in Las Vegas, with the Golden Knights playing in their inaugural season. Rosenberg had brought the engagement ring with him and initially planned to propose at the Eiffel Tower restaurant, because Lundquist's grandparents were from France. But when he found out the Fan Arena and Stanley Cup were in town, he changed course.
"To me, just being able to see and touch the Cup and read the history of it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, then to propose to my best friend was unbelievable," he said. "She said she wouldn't have had it any other way."
The freshly engaged couple went back to the Fan Arena's second day Saturday, where they were able to enjoy the experience more. Their wedding will likely have a hockey theme too. Rosenberg said he intends to
[purchase a replica of the Cup
and turn it into the coolest wedding guestbook ever.
"We'll have that on the table and everyone can sign it and write their own messages in a paint pen," Rosenberg said. "Then I'll take it to the engraver and have everyone's name and message engraved, and it'll be there forever."
