According to David Ayres, everyone's favorite EBUG , it's not rec hockey or Zamboni driving. It's a Nerf blaster. Ayres' wife, Sarah, shared a video of him practicing at home on Monday while the NHL season remained paused due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In the clip, Ayres, who skyrocketed to fame after filling in for the Carolina Hurricanes and becoming the first EBUG in NHL history to earn a win , he says he is looking to answer the two questions he is asked the most. The first is how to prepare for NHL shooters. The second is what is it like to face Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, who Ayres regularly sees in practice. The answer to both questions seems to be the same: Try and stop a tiny Nerf ball being shot at you so fast you can barely see it.
