The 29-year-old wrote in an Instagram post, "Don't be sad it's over, be happy it happened. Thanks hockey, I owe ya."
Ingram’s agent Blake Evans confirmed to NHL.com that the goalie is retiring.
Ingram was 16-10-3 with a 2.60 goals-against average, .899 save percentage and two shutouts in 32 games (30 starts) for the Edmonton Oilers last season. He then went 2-3 with a 3.86 GAA and an .876 save percentage in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.
A third-round pick (No. 88) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2016 NHL Draft, Ingram was 55-54-18 with a 3.01 GAA, .901 save percentage and nine shutouts in 134 regular-season games (129 starts) for the Oilers, Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes and Utah Hockey Club. He was 2-6 with a 3.76 GAA and .895 save percentage in nine playoff games (eight starts).
This offseason, the Oilers did not re-sign Ingram, who was an unrestricted free agent. They signed goalie Frederik Andersen to a one-year, $2.8 million contract July 1 after he helped the Carolina Hurricanes win the Stanley Cup last season, but he is expected to miss training camp due to injury.
Edmonton also has goalies Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi on the roster.
