Hellebuyck meets young fan who shadowed him at practice

A young Winnipeg Jets fan got the advice of a lifetime on Thursday. 

Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck met a young fan who mimicked his moves during practice earlier in the season. 

Cruz, a youth hockey player, stood behind Hellebuyck and shadowed his every move in a video posted by the Jets in September.

Two months later, Cruz finally got to meet his hero and get his autograph. 

Hellebuyck asked Cruz about his hockey season and what part of his game he is currently working on in another video posted by the team. 

When the youth goalie responded he was working on his five-hole, the Jets netminder gave him sound advice about also focusing on his mental game.

Hellebuyck wasn’t the only Winnipeg goalie Cruz got to chat to after practice. 

In the locker room, Cruz met Laurent Brossoit who told the young player that Hellebuyck was also his favorite goalie.

Only a few more years until Cruz is playing alongside his idols.
