Oshie will be out for Capitals after injury in Game 4 against Hurricanes

RALEIGH, N.C. -- T.J. Oshie is expected to be out for an extended period after the Washington Capitals forward sustained an upper-body injury during the third period of a
2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes
in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round at PNC Arena on Thursday.

"He won't be playing anytime soon," Capitals coach Todd Reirden said.
Reirden said Friday that Oshie will miss Game 5 at Capitals One Arena on Saturday (8 p.m. ET; NBC, SN360, SN1, TVAS). The best-of-7 series is tied 2-2.

Oshie was injured on a hit by Hurricanes rookie forward Warren Foegele with 5:12 remaining in the third period. Oshie fell awkwardly into the right-wing boards in Carolina's end and held his right arm when he got up and skated off the ice and went to Washington's locker room. Foegele was called for boarding.
"I was trying to lift his stick, trying to give him a little nudge," Foegele said. "It was a little unfortunate play there, I wasn't trying to hurt him or anything. I hope he's OK."

Oshie's absence would be a big loss for the Capitals. He has two points (one goal, one assist) in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after finishing fifth on the Capitals with 54 points (25 goals, 29 goals) in 69 regular-season games. During the Capitals' run to the Stanley Cup last season, he was fourth on Washington with 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 24 games.
"You never want to see a guy go down no matter who it is, but he works extremely hard for us every night, battles extremely hard," Capitals forward Tom Wilson said. "I mean it [stinks] to see a teammate and a heart-and-soul guy like you said go down, but I haven't talked to him, so we'll see how he is doing."
