Vancouver Canucks coach Willie Desjardins confirmed forwards Alexandre Burrows (neck) and Derek Dorsett (shoulder) are ready to return, but defenseman Chris Tanev, who has missed the past three games because of a lower-body injury, will be a game-time decision. Defensemen Troy Stecher and Tom Nilsson were reassigned to Utica of the American Hockey League following the morning skate, an indication Tanev could be cleared to play. The Canucks begin a six-game road trip having lost five straight (0-4-1) since winning their first four games. "That's one of the biggest challenges in this league," Burrows said after an optional morning skate at Bell Centre. "We weren't as good as everybody was saying when we started off 4-0, and we're not as bad as people are saying right now with our losing streak going on right now, so you've got to stay even keel. But if we do the right things out there, play well structurally, we have good goaltending, we can get on the power play and score some goals there, we'll be in this game tonight and we'll try to make the most of it."
