The Calgary Flames placed goaltender Karri Ramo on injured reserve Friday and recalled goaltender Joni Ortio from Stockton of the American Hockey League.
Ramo was injured with three minutes left in the third period of the Flames' 6-5 shootout win against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday when Sharks forward Joonas Donskoi was tripped and fell into him. Ramo was helped off the ice and was unable to put weight on his left leg.

Jonas Hiller replaced Ramo and made eight saves in regulation and overtime, and stopped three of four in the shootout.
Ortio, 24, went 0-2-1 with a 4.28 goals-against average and .868 save percentage in four games with the Flames in October. In 20 AHL games he's 9-9-0 with a 3.36 GAA and .893 save percentage.
