Robert Bortuzzo will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday.
The St. Louis Blues defenseman is facing discipline for elbowing Washington Capitals defenseman Michal Kempny in a preseason game Tuesday. The incident occurred 45 seconds into the third period of Washington's 4-0 win at Enterprise Center. No penalty was called on the play. Kempny sustained an upper-body injury and did not return to the game. The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: elbowing. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
