SEATTLE, Wash. - July 12, 2022 - Today, the Seattle Kraken (@SeattleKraken) announced that they have signed forward Alexander True to a one-year, two-way contract ($750,000 AAV). True was originally selected by Seattle from San Jose in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.
"Alex had a productive season last year and we're looking forward to having him back with the organization," said Seattle Kraken General Manager Ron Francis.

True played in eight NHL games for the Kraken during the 2021-22 season and spent the remainder of the year with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). He recorded 42 points (18 goals, 24 assists) in 60 regular-season games for the Checkers, leading all Charlotte skaters in scoring. His 18 goals, 24 assists and 42 points were all the second-most of his AHL career. The six-foot-five, 200-pound forward also set AHL playoff bests in games played (seven), goals (three), assists (four) and points (seven), tying for the team lead in assists, and tying for second in scoring and ranking third in goals. The Checkers, the Kraken's AHL affiliate for their inaugural season, finished the season with a division-leading 42-24-6 record and advanced to the Atlantic Division Finals in the AHL playoffs. Next year, the Kraken will launch their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds playing at the Acrisure Arena.
True has totaled five assists in 27 NHL games over the course of three seasons (2019-20 to 2021-22) with the San Jose Sharks and Seattle Kraken. He has added 170 points (77 goals, 93 assists) in 263 American Hockey League (AHL) games, setting AHL career highs in goals (24), assists (31) and points (55) during the 2018-19 season with the San Jose Barracuda.
Prior to making his professional debut, True played three seasons (2014-15 to 2016-17) for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL), recording 84 points (45 goals, 39 assists) in 169 regular-season games. He added 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 44 career WHL playoff games and helped the Thunderbirds win a WHL Championship in 2017.
A native of Copenhagen, True has represented Denmark in nearly every level of international competition: the U18 World Junior Championship (2014), U18 Word Junior Championship Division-1A (2015), U20 World Junior Championship (2015, 2016, 2017), World Championship (2021) and Winter Olympic Games Qualifiers (2021). He was named a top-three player on his team at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2014 and at both the 2016 and 2017 U20 World Junior Championship. He had medaled in international competition once at the U18 World Junior Championship Division-1A in 2015 where he was also named his team's top player. True was also one of three initial players to be named to Denmark's 2022 Olympic team prior to NHL players withdrawing from the tournament.
