SEATTLE (July 1, 2026) — Today, Seattle Kraken General Manager Jason Botterill announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Curtis Douglas on a two-year contract ($1.25M AAV).
“Curtis adds size and a strong physical presence to our forward group,” said Jason Botterill. “He competes with an edge, brings energy and is difficult to play against. We look forward to seeing him in our lineup next year.”
As one of the tallest players in NHL history, Douglas, 26, joins the organization from the Vancouver Canucks where he recorded two points (1g/1a) in 14 games after being claimed off waivers on March 6, 2026, from the Tampa Bay Lightning. He scored his first career NHL goal on April 12, 2026.
The 6-foot-9, 243-pound forward made a big impact in his NHL debut with the Lightning on Oct. 9, 2025, dropping the gloves in his first shift. During his time with the Lightning (29 GP) he led the roster in penalty minutes (92) and tallied two assists.
Douglas amassed 98 points (37g/61a) in 267 games in the American Hockey League split between the Tucson Roadrunners, Toronto Marlies and Belleville Senators. In his AHL rookie season (2021-22), he set career highs across the scoresheet, posting 34 points (13g/21a) in 67 games with the Toronto Marlies.
The Oakville, Ontario, native began his junior hockey career in the Ontario Hockey League, totaling 168 points (83g/85a) in 247 regular-season games. Over his four seasons (2016-2020) in the OHL, he played for the Barrie Colts and the Windsor Spitfires.
