The Kings snapped their three-game losing steak on Tuesday night with a 5-2 road defeat over the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago, who is 0-5-2 since their shootout victory over the Kings on March 24th was again denied points when the Kings took the lead and never looked back.
The Kings second line opened the scoring when Trevor Moore cashed in on a beautiful tic-tac-toe goal with his linemates Viktor Arvidsson and Phillip Danault 7:43 into the game. Three minutes later, Phillip Danault benefitted from a little puck-luck when his shot on goal deflected off a Blackhawks defenseman and into the net.
Following a Blackhawks goal to cut the lead to 2-1, Blake Lizotte scored his first of two goals just 33 seconds after Chicago's tally to snatch the momentum right back late in the second period. Opening the scoring in the third period was defenseman Jordan Spence, tallying the second goal of his career goal in just his 17th NHL game, expanding the Kings lead to 4-1. The Kings would surrender one more goal late in the period but would gain the three-goal advantage with a Lizotte empty net goal.
Jonathan Quick started for the Kings and stopped 18 of 20 shots faced.
