The Kings capped off their season series with the Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon as they faced off with the division rival for the fourth time and final time of the 2021-22 campaign. Unfortunately, this one did not go to the Kings way despite an intensified pressure in the third period.
The Golden Knights broke the ice with 1:41 to go in the first period off of an Evgenii Dadonov wraparound and never looked back. After the Kings went into the first intermission down a goal, the Golden Knights doubled their lead just 39 seconds into the second period with a power-play tally from Chandler Stephenson.
The Kings did cut the lead to just one halfway into the game to give the good guys life when Jordan Spence, Trevor Moore and Phillip Danault combined for Danault's 19th goal of the season. Unfortunately, that as all the offense the Kings could muster up and would go onto surrender three more goals, including one empty netter.
Following his fourth career shutout on Thursday, Cal Petersen started in net for the Kings and stopped 20 of 24 shots faced.
