NO PIONK
Neal Pionk was issued a two-game suspension for his hit on Toronto's Rasmus Sandin during Sunday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs. On top of that Paul Maurice mentioned that Pionk is in concussion protocol which means he won't be going with the team to Seattle and Vancouver this week. Pionk took a vicious hit from Leaf forward Jason Spezza. Winnipeg will try to get through tonight and the Seattle game on Thursday without having to call a player up from the Manitoba Moose. The Moose are in Laval right now and will be playing on Wednesday night before coming back to Winnipeg.

IN COMES BEAU
No Pionk means that Nathan Beaulieu will come back into the lineup and since he hasn't played a lot lately, Maurice wants him on the left side and will be paired with Dylan DeMelo. Logan Stanley moves up to the second defence pairing with Brendan Dillon, Stanley will play the right side which he has done before when he was in junior. Dillon might play a bit on the right side as well.

SVECH vs. SVECH
It was almost perfect timing for Evgeny Svechnikov to get his second goal of the season, he had gone 17 games without scoring. The Jets forward will face his younger brother Andrei tonight with the Hurricanes in town, the two Svechnikov's went head-to-head five times last season when Evgeny was with the Detroit Red Wings. The 2020-21 season was the first time the two were on the same ice in the NHL together, with both being first round picks.
"All of a sudden you are the same sheet of ice, and it was special. Special moments like that stick with you forever," said Evgeny this morning.
"You have the game you have to focus on, but it was a special moment."
PP CLICKING
Paul Maurice looks to have found the right groups on his first and second power play units with the Jets going 3-for-5 with the man advantage on Sunday against a Leafs PK unit that was ranked sixth in the NHL. Winnipeg is 4-for-9 on the power play over the past two games since moving Kyle Connor to the left side and Pierre-Luc Dubois to the bumper position on the first power play unit.
HOMETOWN BOY
Seth Jarvis is a Winnipeg native, and he is set to play his first NHL game in his hometown on Tuesday. He has earned an assist in back-to-back games for the first time in his NHL/Hurricanes career (12/2-12/4), and he has now tallied nine points (4g, 5a) in 16 games in 2021-22. Jarvis ranks tied for eighth on the team in points (9) this season, and his two game-winning goals rank tied for the league lead among NHL rookies.
