• With Tuesday's win, Ilya Sorokin's home record improved to 13-4-3 with a 1.96 GAA and .934 SV% at UBS Arena. Sorokin has allowed 16 goals in his last nine games (7-2-0) and recorded 24 wins on the season. Sorokin is also tied for first in save percentage with Colorado's Darcy Kuemper (.945 SV%) in that time frame.
• Zach Parise scored a shorthanded goal and a power-play goal in the first period against the Penguins on Tuesday. Parise's two-goal performance was his second of the season and he now has 31 points (13G, 18A) in 72 games. "He's just been a really reliable player all year," said Head Coach Barry Trotz. "He plays the right way… to me that's why he's had success."
• The previous Islander to record a SHG and a PPG in the same game was Frans Nielsen on Feb. 23, 2016 in a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild. The last Islander to put up goals on both the power play and the penalty kill in the same period was Michael Grabner on April 6, 2011. On that night, Grabner also passed Bryan Trottier for second on the Islanders all-time rookie goal scoring list with his 33rd goal.
Casey Cizikas returned on Tuesday after serving a one-game suspension. He recorded three shots in 11:46 of ice time in the matchup against Pittsburgh, skated 2:06 shorthanded, and went 40% in the faceoff circle. With 199 career points, Cizikas is on the brink of a milestone 200th point.

• The Islanders only played three home-and-home sets this season, including Thursday's bout with Pittsburgh. In their previous home-and-home series, the Islanders defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets in both games (March 29 and 31). The Islanders also went 2-0 in their split set with the Philadelphia Flyers on January 17 and 18.
