Condensed Game: Capitals @ Islanders

Game 46Washington 6, Isles 4
Alex Ovechkin scored three times to pass Mario Lemieux and tie Steve Yzerman for 9th place on the all-time list as the Washington Capitals scored five goals in the third period to defeat the Islanders 6-4 before a sellout crowd of 13,917 at Nassau Coliseum.
It was the Great 8's 26th career hat trick, but his first against the Islanders. Ovechkin now leads all active players with 39 career goals against New York.

The Isles led 4-1 through 40 minutes, but recorded only their third-ever regulation loss when leading by at least three goals through two periods (11/1/2008 vs Montreal, 12/9/2014 at Minnesota)
The Isles are 3-5-1 this month (1-4-0 vs Division foes), meaning they will need to win their final two games of the month to avoid their first losing month under Barry Trotz.
